Why Paparazzi Proposals

Why a team, and not one photographer you found online.

At Paparazzi Proposals we understand that you have a big life decision ahead, and it needs all kinds of support: from emotional guidance to help with logistics and planning. Over a decade of working and learning, we have developed protocols to make sure your proposal is executed in the most beautiful way.

A proposal is not just a photographer. Behind your date there is a team: coordinators and planners, photographers, editors and decorators, drivers and musicians. No last-minute cancellations, no no-shows, no unexpected changes (unless the weather doesn't permit). We are here for you, through what is likely one of the most important events of your life.

“You can go with one photographer you found online. It's not impossible, but you're taking a risk: we often get couples who are going through a last-minute cancellation, and we do our best to accommodate them, but a proposal planned on a tight deadline rarely ends up as perfect as you want it to be. Come to us from the beginning, and we'll support you with the whole team.”

San Diego hands you a backdrop for every kind of marriage proposal. We've scouted every spot on this map ourselves: for the light, for the privacy, and for the angles that make the photographs worth framing. Tap any pin to jump to that spot, or let a San Diego proposal planner find the place where you two will want to get engaged.

Ideas & inspiration

San Diego Proposal Ideas.

Not sure how to ask? Start with the place. The spot you choose sets the tone of the entire moment, whether you want it hidden and intimate or grand and unmistakably San Diego.

San Diego proposal decorations, set up before you arrive

Every idea below works beautifully on its own, or dressed up with full proposal decorations: a styled picnic, a candle heart glowing at dusk, or giant MARRY ME letters waiting as you round the corner. Your proposal planner arranges the permits, the timing and the setup, and your photographer is already in position, so all you have to do is walk them there. Tap any idea to read the full location guide.

Our work

San Diego Proposal Photographer.

Every one of these was shot by a local San Diego secret proposal photographer, standing exactly where we said we'd be: hidden in plain sight, lens ready, half a second before they turned around.

Location guides

San Diego Proposal Locations.

The full story on every spot above: when the light is best, how private it really is, and what we can set up for you before you arrive.

Sunset Cliffs Natural Park

The Sunset Cliffs do not disappoint with their views, and one will find sandstone cliffs right down to the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean. This area features a paved pathway and benches at the top of the cliffs for visitors to enjoy. It is an excellent spot for observing sunsets with the cliffs and the skies painted with colors. Arriving at this place half an hour before the sunset is the perfect timing. The place is free for all and open round-the-clock.

Cabrillo National Monument

Cabrillo National Monument can be found at the tip of Point Loma and offers spectacular views of San Diego Bay, San Diego city skyline, the Pacific Ocean, and on a clear day, even sights as far south as the Mexican coastline. There are very few places in Southern California where one has the privilege of viewing this much from one place. Along with the views, the monument offers historic sites like the lighthouse and the coastal bluffs. It is open from 9 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon, and the entry fee is $20.

La Jolla Cove

La Jolla Cove is a remarkable coastal location where sea lions play around on rocks and the sandstone cliffs are a background to a picturesque blue-green Pacific Ocean. Very few locations on the California coast can boast of such a perfect combination of nature, colors, and geography all together. La Jolla Cove’s small size makes it easy to fit all three elements into one picture. A truly unique background like no other on this list.

Coronado

From Coronado Island, this beach spot is the best place to capture the complete San Diego skyline across the bay. It works especially well at sunset because there is the element of color from the sky in the background of the skyline, as well as at night, where you have the skyline reflected on the bay. Since this place stays open until 2am, you have flexibility in choosing when to shoot.

Balboa Park

It is among the biggest urban cultural parks in the nation, with Spanish Colonial architecture and gardens with fountains covering 1,200 acres. This elaborate architecture and landscaping offer a formal elegance that can only be found here in San Diego. The large size of the park ensures that there will be a secluded space for whatever mood you are in.

Pacific Beach

A quintessential shot of the SoCal beach life experience, with the pier, boardwalk, and open view of the Pacific for an ideal, sunny backdrop. The pier extending into the water offers a natural subject matter and leading line. It’s an effortless composition with that classic SoCal beach vibe.

Mission Bay Gondola

A gondola cruise through the tranquil waters of Mission Bay would be a perfect setting for a proposal, since the setting is not next to the water but is in fact on the water. The privacy provided by being out on the water offers a unique means of popping the question.

Old Town San Diego

The birthplace of California, with its adobe houses and cobblestone roads along with its old-world charm. The adobe structures and cobblestone roads lend a historic character that can be found nowhere else in the city. It makes for a perfect choice for a couple with an interest in history and Spanish colonial times.

How it works

Three steps to your San Diego yes.

One date, one call. We take care of everything in between.

1

Pick your date

Choose a day above and send it over. It takes 30 seconds, with no payment and no commitment.

2

Plan it on a call

Your planner helps you choose the spot and the package, takes the payment and locks the date.

3

You just propose

Your photographer is hidden nearby, already in position. Your gallery arrives in 3 to 4 business days.

Your proposal planner

Meet Ann Levit.

Send me your date and I will come back with two or three spots that actually work at that time of day, and what it takes to get permission to be there.

As a mother of only one child, this is the perfect gift. Hiring Paparazzi Proposals to capture this event was the best thing I could have ever done for my son and his future bride. The photos are perfect and the moment was captured forever.

It could have been overwhelming to realize you were suddenly in a photo shoot that you didn’t plan for, but he was super kind and easy going. I dabble in photography myself and can be pretty picky about it, his work is beautiful.
