Why Paparazzi Proposals

Why a team, and not one photographer you found online.

At Paparazzi Proposals we understand that you have a big life decision ahead, and it needs all kinds of support: from emotional guidance to help with logistics and planning. Over a decade of working and learning, we have developed protocols to make sure your proposal is executed in the most beautiful way.

A proposal is not just a photographer. Behind your date there is a team: coordinators and planners, photographers, editors and decorators, drivers and musicians. No last-minute cancellations, no no-shows, no unexpected changes (unless the weather doesn't permit). We are here for you, through what is likely one of the most important events of your life.

“You can go with one photographer you found online. It's not impossible, but you're taking a risk: we often get couples who are going through a last-minute cancellation, and we do our best to accommodate them, but a proposal planned on a tight deadline rarely ends up as perfect as you want it to be. Come to us from the beginning, and we'll support you with the whole team.”

Boston Proposal Map

Places to propose in Boston.

Boston hands you a backdrop for every kind of marriage proposal. We've scouted every spot on this map ourselves: for the light, for the privacy, and for the angles that make the photographs worth framing. Tap any pin to jump to that spot, or let a Boston proposal planner find the place where you two will want to get engaged.

Ideas & inspiration

Boston Proposal Ideas.

Not sure how to ask? Start with the place. The spot you choose sets the tone of the entire moment, whether you want it hidden and intimate or grand and unmistakably Boston.

Boston proposal decorations, set up before you arrive

Every idea below works beautifully on its own, or dressed up with full proposal decorations: a styled picnic, a candle heart glowing at dusk, or giant MARRY ME letters waiting as you round the corner. Your proposal planner arranges the permits, the timing and the setup, and your photographer is already in position, so all you have to do is walk them there. Tap any idea to read the full location guide.

Our work

Boston Proposal Photographer.

Every one of these was shot by a local Boston secret proposal photographer, standing exactly where we said we'd be: hidden in plain sight, lens ready, half a second before they turned around.

Location guides

Boston Proposal Locations.

The full story on every spot above: when the light is best, how private it really is, and what we can set up for you before you arrive.

Boston Public Garden

Perhaps Boston's most famous and popular place to ask someone to marry you is the Victorian lagoon with the arching footbridge, with weeping willows, swan boats, and beautifully landscaped flower beds. The arching bridge and swan boats provide an air of timeless fairy tale romance, making this the most sought-after proposal site in the city.

Harborwalk Lookout Terrace, Fan Pier

An elevated terrace in the Seaport with one of the best views of Boston Harbor and the skyline, peaceful, beautiful, and accessible around the clock. Since it is less known than other major spots in Boston, you will most likely enjoy the view all to yourself.

Boston Harbor / Seaport

The Seaport has spacious and well-tended harbor promenades with incredible city and harbor views, particularly at sunset. The harbor and Seaport skyline create a new and contemporary vibe that is different from other parts of Boston. The boats passing through the harbor lend dynamic elements to the composition.

Acorn Street

One of the most photographed streets in America – a tiny, cobblestone street located in Beacon Hill that features row houses illuminated by gas lamps. The tiny cobblestones and gas lamps create an intimate old world charm not found anywhere else in the city.

Arnold Arboretum

This museum of living trees, which is 281 acres in size, is part of Boston's park system, the Emerald Necklace, with rolling hills and an incredibly diverse range of trees all year long. Due to the diversity of trees, the scenery changes with the seasons. The rolling hills make sure that there are enough secluded spots.

Charles River Esplanade

A park next to the Charles River featuring sailboats, pathways, and the Boston skyline in the background. Sailboats gliding on the river make the skyline photo even more interesting. The place is a very attractive one and it stays busy until late in the evening.

Cape Cod

It is a day trip away from the city and has classic New England beaches and lighthouses. This place has the characteristic shingled architecture and also offers the tranquility of the quiet beaches that offer a different charm from that of the city. This would be a good place for a couple looking for a coastal day trip to propose.

Estabrook Woods

A serene forested area in a conservation reserve just outside of the city, close to Concord. The dense forest provides complete privacy and a true sense of nature. This is perfect for a couple looking for time alone without anyone around.

Hemlock Gorge Reservation

A wooded area by the Charles River in Newton that features a beautiful waterfall and stone bridge. Both the waterfall and stone bridge bring excitement and history into the tranquil woodlands. This is a more private choice for a couple that wants something special.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about proposals in Boston.

The Boston Common and Public Garden, cobblestoned Acorn Street, the blooms of the Arnold Arboretum, and a sunset cruise of Boston Harbor are our most-loved backdrops.
Our Boston packages start at $495 for the Proposal Photography Package and go up to $1,600 for photos plus video. Pick a package above for the exact "from" price.
Yes, our Picnic, Candle Heart and Marry Me packages include styled decor, florals and signage, all set up before you arrive.
We recommend 2–3 weeks for the best choice of times and spots, but we'll always try to make last-minute magic happen too.
Boston weather can turn fast. We monitor the forecast and offer rescheduling subject to availability, plus covered backup spots so your day stays magical.
Absolutely. From location scouting and permits to flowers, music and timing, a dedicated planner handles every detail so you only focus on the moment.
Of course, love is love. Every package is for every couple, and we'll tailor the whole experience to your story.
No. The MFA does not take engagement, wedding or formal portrait photography requests, and tripods and flash are banned inside, so we can't place a photographer there. For a quiet, green setting we suggest the Arnold Arboretum, where small photo sessions are free and allowed.
Yes to the proposal, no to most decor. The Arboretum allows small photo sessions of up to 40 people at no cost, but nobody can reserve or rope off a spot, and confetti, petals, signs and furniture are not allowed. Your planner lets the Arboretum know ahead and keeps the setup simple.
Yes, quickly and quietly. Acorn Street is a private residential lane kept up by its homeowners, and neighbors have complained about photographers with tripods and props. So we go early in the morning, skip the decor and the tripod, and keep the moment short.
We help you plan every detail, then secretly capture your proposal with a hidden photographer. You tell us the city and the date, we confirm a photographer is free, you purchase, and we put you in touch with your photographer. On the day you text them about 10 minutes before you arrive; they shoot from further away, and you won't see them until you've asked.
Yes, we have photographers all over the US, and Boston is one of our cities. Inside the city there is no travel fee. If your spot is well outside town, a photographer's travel expense may apply, usually $20 to $100 depending on the distance; your planner tells you the exact amount before you pay anything.
Send us the date, the exact location and the time, and we check who is free. There is always a chance, even last minute: we have handled short notice before, though weekends and sunset slots go first. To book, pay for the package at checkout or talk to a planner first; a free planning call is always available. After the purchase we send a short form and connect you with your photographer.
Yes. Just the photographer is a very common option: book a dinner in a beautiful place or plan a walk in the park, and we capture the moment. The Proposal Photography Package is $495 for one hour, with 70–100 edited photos, and it is the lightest option we have. Decorations are an add-on, not a requirement. There is no standing discount; seasonal promotions happen now and then, so ask your planner what is on when you book.
Photo packages are photos only. If you want her reaction on film too, the Photography + Video package adds a videographer: about an hour of filming and a 2–3 minute highlight film, delivered within two weeks, without sound or drones.
A local Boston photographer from our team, chosen for your date. We don't share the photographer's contacts before the purchase, because we get a lot of inquiries, but once the package is booked we put you in touch and you can settle the exact spot together. The easiest way to see our work is the stories on this page and our Instagram.
Early morning is the quiet time almost everywhere. People rarely end up in the photos: look through the galleries on this page and you won't see anyone around. The photographer gets there before you, has a photo of the two of you so they know who to look for, and stays unseen until you've asked. If you want a truly private setting, that would have to be a rooftop or a private venue.
Packages are paid in full at checkout; there is no deposit. Moving the date is free when you let us know in advance and your photographer is available. If you cancel more than 30 days before the date, 50% is refunded; within 30 days there is no refund. Weather postponements depend on availability, and we usually reconnect a few days before to check the forecast.

He was able to get to the spot a bit earlier and even had his gear get a little wet to capture the best moments, now that is some high level dedication!

This is so much better than getting together a flashmob. Having a memory of the event is totally worth every penny, because our family and friends are able to enjoy it with us.
