The Cummer Gardens are situated in the Riverside neighborhood near the St. Johns River, where the gardens are regarded as among the most beautiful in Jacksonville. They consist of Italian and English gardens that feature water, brick pathways, and flower gardens, and an immense oak tree whose branches reach out onto the grassland. Also, the river itself flows adjacent to the garden.
Treaty Oak is a massive live oak located on the Southbank which is believed to be more than 250 years old. This tree has broad branches that extend horizontally as well as low. Moss hangs from the branches of this tree and therefore one can find themselves in what seems like a green room when walking under this tree.
The Friendship Fountain is a huge fountain that can be found at the Southbank Riverwalk. In the evening, the fountain will light up in various colors. Behind the fountain, one can view the city skyline along with the illuminated bridges. The area offers a spacious riverwalk that is comfortable to walk on.
The beach is found on Big Talbot Island and can be reached within 30-40 minutes northeast from downtown. The beach is surrounded by dead trees that have fallen on the shore, giving it an eerie look, especially at sunrise. The beach belongs to a state park and is left untouched and uncrowded.
