This is a 284-foot limestone structure that serves as a prominent monument right in the middle of downtown Indianapolis. The monument has an observation deck and a plaza at its base. The scale and the plaza at the base make this monument very grand and fit for a civic landmark.
This is a canal walk with footbridges and water views next to White River State Park. The footbridges and still waters make for a relaxing and romantic place to take a stroll in the downtown area.
Newfields is the art museum campus north of downtown, and the garden itself is as beautiful as the exhibits inside. Formal gardens, large lawns and Lilly House, which is a historic building situated on a hill, are all located within the garden. LOVE, which is the original Robert Indiana sculpture, now stands inside the museum. In spring and summer, one is able to walk from the gardens down to the riverside along a peaceful path within minutes.
Holliday Park is a huge park located in the northern part of the city. In this park, there are the Ruins – a garden with old stone columns and sculptures. These sculptures once stood on a building in New York. This garden has a lawn and a pool in front of it. Therefore, it reminds one of an old European garden. In addition, the park has wooded paths which go down to the White River.
One of the oldest parks in Indianapolis is Garfield Park, which is located on the south side of the city. The conservatory is a glass structure filled with tropical flora and a little waterfall, and directly adjoining it is an elaborate sunken garden complete with water fountains and flowerbeds. The conservatory is the best option in case the weather is bad, while the garden is beautiful from late spring into autumn.
