The Netherlands Carillon is a bell tower that sits amid tulip gardens just adjacent to the Marine Corps War Memorial. From the hilltop, one can have a good view of the Washington Monument, the Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial on the opposite side of the Potomac River.
Gravelly Point Park lies beside the Potomac River very close to Reagan National Airport. The planes fly very low above your head and you have an amazing view of DC’s monuments across the river. It is a great and unique place for romantic couples.
Long Bridge Park features a lengthy esplanade overlooking the playing fields, the Potomac River and Roaches Run, with an overlook that has views of the national monuments. Its contemporary design ensures that it is very neat and picturesque. The park looks particularly beautiful at sunset.
Teddy Roosevelt Island is an island in the Potomac River with lots of trees and can be accessed via a footbridge from Arlington. The shaded paths will take you to the memorial plaza that has fountains and a statue of the former president.
Lady Bird Johnson Park is located on Columbia Island within the Potomac River with scenic views of the Washington, D.C., monuments. In spring, it is filled with blooming trees and flowers. It makes a nice tranquil and picturesque place for a proposal.
